Last night we tried out a bar called The Oliver Plunkett, and it turned out to be a great success! It is a multi-level bar that has live music every night. We opted to go upstairs to listen to an Irish band that alternated playing traditional Irish music and covers of American songs. It is so funny to us that everyone here listens to all the same music we do back home, but fun that we know all the words!
Today we were told about the Cork vs. Tipperary hurling match, and so we headed off at 3:00pm to find a pub! We landed by random chance on Thomand which turned out to be known as "The Ultimate Sports Venue". Thomand was a lot of fun not only because it was filled with enthusiastic Cork fans who seemingly had nothing to do during the middle of the day but drink and enjoy the game, but also because we got to learn what hurling actually is. It is a mix of field hockey/baseball/soccer/rugby but faster (it is the fastest land sport) and more violent than any of those sports. We definitely had to learn what was going on as it happened, and were quite unaware of what sports terms to shout to cheer them on, but enjoyed the experience regardless.

Upon returning to The Spires (my apartment complex) I realized that I have not put up any photos of the outside of the building. Enjoy!
